Member Code of Conduct

IAMFI’s members are expected to conduct themselves in accordance with IAMFI’s underlying values, in order to reinforce the association’s culture, drive its activities and exceed industry expectations. Members are defined as any institution (including its employees) or individual who has obtained membership in the Association.

Integrity
There is no greater asset than trust. IAMFI will uphold the highest standard of honesty and will consistently follow through on its commitments. The association will expect this same level of integrity from its membership.

Transparency
Facilitating the availability of credible, objective information is at the core of what IAMFI strives to do for the microfinance industry. Members’ commitment to transparency will create greater trust and encourage a level playing field that will attract more capital to microfinance and reward the best performers.

Independence
It is imperative that IAMFI maintain an objective voice and perspective. The mandate of IAMFI is to represent the interests of its membership as a whole. At no time will the association represent the interests of an entity whose interests are at odds with those of the membership. Members will strive for a consensus view on issues that best serves the membership and the industry.

Sustainability
Sustainability is critically important to the long-term success and impact of the microfinance industry. The sustainability of IAMFI and its members reinforces the association’s commitment to objectivity and market principles.

Inclusiveness
The microfinance field is comprised of a broad range of participants with varying needs and points of view. IAMFI and its members will strive to be as inclusive as possible while maintaining a commitment to the association’s vision, mission and objectives.

Action Orientation
IAMFI is driven by a bias toward action in support of its vision, mission and objectives. Its members should be thought leaders with the commitment to advance investor interests proactively.

In summary, members will maintain high ethical standards of conduct, particularly by dealing fairly and honestly with each other and other entities with which IAMFI is involved. Members will not engage in practices that may damage the image or interests of IAMFI, fellow members or the microfinance industry.

Members will neither abuse any of the benefits entitled to them as members nor take actions to compromise the exclusivity of members-only services and benefits.

IAMFI reserves the right to terminate the membership of any member who fails to comply with the Member Code of Conduct. In the case of member termination, the member will not receive dues reimbursement for the period of unused services.
